When Typhoon Kalmaegi (Tino) roared across the central Philippines this week, entire neighborhoods vanished beneath brown water. Families climbed to rooftops. Clinics went dark. Roads disappeared. Authorities report dozens of lives lost with tens of thousands evacuated as floodwater rose through the night. 

In the aftermath, the Department of Health has raised a Code White Alert. This is a surge posture to mobilize health workers and supplies across the Visayas. It’s an all-hands moment—and it’s exactly where Whispering Hope International steps in. 

What survivors need right now

• Mobile medical teams will reach flooded barangays. They will give wound care, antibiotics, and tetanus prophylaxis. They will also offer refills for chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
• Clean water & WASH kits to stop outbreaks of diarrheal disease and leptospirosis after flood exposure.
• Cold-chain support (coolers/ice packs, small generators) to protect insulin and essential vaccines while power is unstable.
• Maternal & child health kits for safe deliveries, newborn care, and vaccination catch-up when clinics are down.
• Mental health first aid and small group debriefs that help families and responders process shock, grief, and sleeplessness.

3. Protect the cold chain with coolers, ice packs, and fuel/portable power to keep insulin and vaccines safe.
4. Support mothers and newborns with clean delivery kits, referral transport, and follow-up visits.
